New Wave was born from a unique partnership and a shared vision, led by its co-founders, Becks Butler and Gwen Kenny.

At New Wave we specialise in facilitating design thinking workshops and providing cutting edge consultancy services to empower organisations to solve complex problems and drive meaningful change. Our approach is about user-centricity, data driven decision making, collaboration and creative problem solving. Meet the Team

  • Partner & Founder

    Gwen graduated with first-class honours; M.A. in Professional Practice Business T.U.D. having written her thesis on sustainability. She has a Prof. Dip. in Creativity Innovation and Leadership from U.C.D., Prof. Dip in Teaching and Learning with emphasis on online learning and technology, From Griffith College and is due to complete for a. Dip. in Creativity & Innovation for Education, in UCD this year.

    Gwen lectures on the Entrepreneurship & Project Management in the Built Environment, and B.A. Interior Architects (hons) in Griffith College. Gwen has been a guest lecturer in Trinity, (innovation and sustainability), U.C.D. (sustainability) and T.U.D. (Interior design, building regulations). As a previous employer of Grafton Group PLC Gwen was responsible for purchasing, product/retail/display design and crafting brands.

    With three decades of experience, Gwen is one of Ireland’s most respected designers. She has worked on a host of commercial projects in Ireland and overseas, many of which have been featured by national media.

    Gwen’s relentless curiosity and hunger for knowledge means her work is influenced by not just the tried and tested, but also emerging innovations and technologies.

    During lock down, Gwen, one of two co-founders for InsideOut, Ireland’s first online Home, Garden and Lifestyle event brought together architects and designers in an ambitious fundraising project raising over 35K for The Coombe, Women's and Children's Hospital.

    Becks has a passion to build design driven driven organisations to successfully enabling transformation. By embedding these principles and practices into the organisational culture, we can foster innovation, agility, and customer-centricity, leading to more impactful solutions, increased customer satisfaction, and sustainable competitive advantage. Having graduated with a degree in Agricultural Science (hons.), Becks worked for Claas Ltd, before launching their start-up Uisce Bia. Having identified a gap in the market, their hydroponic animal feed business worked tirelessly to find a solution to the fodder crisis. Ireland’s Best Young Entrepreneur competition required Becks to develop business plans and strategies as well as perform frequent pitches to the Department of Jobs, Enterprise, and Innovation. They expanded their expertise in entrepreneurship through various bootcamps awarded by Google and Enterprise Ireland. Becks was a spotlight guest speaker for Accenture’s International Women’s Day at the Convention Centre Dublin. Becks is still involved in farming and currently manages 250 acres of tillage. Following a degree in Photographic Media and an M.A. in Art Research & Collaboration, Becks had a successful career in visual arts and curatorial practice. Their works have been purchased by the Royal Irish Academy and private collectors. Becks was nominated as FUTURES Irish Talent (2020), a European initiative, and is a recent recipient of the Arts Councils Agility Award (2021). Within their commercial practice, Becks has worked on design projects for clients such as Guinness, REPEAL Campaign, and Style Club, and their editorials have been published by The Guardian U.K., Quartz NYC, Over, Journal, and The Irish Times. Becks lectures (part-time) at the Faculties of Design & Journalism, Griffith College, where they share their experiences. They chair the Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee and sit on the Academic and Professional Council.
